Important

Our research includes tax credit apartments, income-restricted communities, and properties with lower minimum-income requirements. Not every apartment we identify calculates rent based on your income. Your list provides researched apartment options to explore. Each community confirms current rents, availability, eligibility, and screening requirements and makes its own approval decisions.

Common Search Problems

Fort Worth or Arlington? Two different voucher offices

Voucher holders sometimes widen a search to Arlington or the HEB cities without knowing which agency's area a community falls in, and end up unsure who to call about moving a voucher.

Why it happens here: Fort Worth Housing Solutions administers the Housing Choice Voucher program for the city, while the Arlington Housing Authority runs a separate program for the City of Arlington.

How we help: Note your voucher status and issuing agency in your request. We research tax credit and income-restricted communities on both sides of that line and show each community's city, so you know which office to ask.

The 3x rent rule rules you out

Many properties ask for gross income of about three times the rent. Some use lower multiples, but listings rarely say so up front.

The terms blur together

Tax credit, income-restricted, income-based, and Section 8 mean different things, and a listing may not say which one applies.

Leasing calls eat your day

Calling property after property to ask about income rules takes hours, and you may still not get a clear answer.

Application fees add up

Paying to apply at a community you turn out not to qualify for costs money you can't get back.

What We Research

Income-Friendly Apartment Types We Research

Research covering tax credit, income-restricted, and lower minimum-income communities from downtown east to Arlington and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford cities, west to White Settlement, and south to Burleson.

Research on Low-Income Housing Tax Credit communities, including income limits, rent restrictions, and what to confirm before you apply.

  • Program type identified for each community (LIHTC / tax credit, set-aside tiers where verified)
  • Maximum income limits by household size, with source and effective year when published
  • Known minimum-income screening criteria, which can apply alongside maximum limits

Research on properties or designated units with income eligibility limits, plus a clear explanation of how they differ from income-based rent.

  • Designated income-restricted units identified where verified
  • AMI tier and household-size limits recorded with program, geography, and effective year
  • Minimum screening income flagged alongside maximum limits

Local Knowledge

Fort Worth Apartment Research, Explained Locally

Fort Worth is its own market, separate from Dallas, with commutes shaped by the I-820 Loop, I-30, and I-35W. Renters often work Downtown, in the Medical District on the Near Southside, or at AllianceTexas to the north, and live east in Arlington or the Hurst-Euless-Bedford cities.

Rail here means TEXRail, which connects the T&P Station downtown with North Richland Hills, Grapevine, and DFW Airport Terminal B, plus the Trinity Railway Express toward Dallas. Trinity Metro buses fill in the rest, so tell us the routes you rely on.

Power comes through Oncor's wires, but the bill comes from whichever retail electric provider you choose. Ask each leasing office which utilities are included before you compare rents side by side.

Getting Around Tarrant County

Many renters here look east toward Arlington and the Hurst-Euless-Bedford (HEB) cities, or south toward Burleson. The I-820 Loop and I-30 shape a lot of daily commutes, so tell us where you need to be most days.

If you use Trinity Metro buses or TEXRail, mention the routes or stations that matter. We'll weigh transit access when researching and note it when we can verify it.

If you're also open to Dallas-side communities, add Dallas to your request for a broader DFW search. Each community still appears only once.

Housing Authorities and Program Context

Fort Worth Housing Solutions serves the city, and the Arlington Housing Authority runs the Housing Choice Voucher program in Arlington. Other Tarrant County cities may be served by other agencies. We don't administer housing programs, but we can note your voucher status and flag what each property says about it.

Tax credit communities in the area take part in the federal LIHTC program, overseen in Texas by TDHCA. Income limits depend on the metro area, household size, and program tier, and they're updated each year.

Some properties combine a maximum program income limit with a minimum screening income. Your list notes both when we can find them, and says clearly when either still needs confirmation.

Got Questions?

What Fort Worth Renters Ask Us

Does your coverage include Arlington?

Yes. Arlington, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Haltom City, White Settlement, and Burleson are all inside our Tarrant County research area.

Is Fort Worth Housing Solutions the local housing authority?

Yes. The former local housing authority now operates as Fort Worth Housing Solutions and runs the city's Housing Choice Voucher program. Arlington has its own agency, the Arlington Housing Authority.

Can I include Dallas-side apartments too?

Yes. Choose both markets for a DFW-wide search. A community that fits both areas still appears only once.

Can you research apartments near TEXRail stations?

Yes. TEXRail runs from the T&P Station downtown through North Richland Hills and Grapevine to DFW Airport Terminal B. Tell us which stations you'd use and we'll weigh them in research.

Do you research Burleson and White Settlement?

Yes. Burleson to the south and White Settlement to the west are part of our coverage, along with the HEB cities to the northeast.

Will my list show both minimum and maximum income rules?

When we can verify them, yes. Each detail is labeled as confirmed with leasing staff, published on the property website, or still needing confirmation.

Do you have an office in Fort Worth?

No. Our team is based in Austin and researches all five Texas markets, including this one, online and through contact with leasing staff.

Who sets my electricity plan if I move here?

Oncor handles power delivery here, but you choose a retail electric provider, so plan choice affects your monthly total. We note which utilities each community bills to the tenant when we can confirm it.
