Houston spreads across Harris County and into Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, so the right search area depends on where you need to be each day. Many renters work Downtown, at the Texas Medical Center, or along the Energy Corridor, and each of those pulls a search in a different direction.
Flooding is part of the local picture. The Harris County Flood Control District estimates that Hurricane Harvey flooded 5,000 to 15,000 apartments, condos, and townhouses in 2017, and Texas landlords must now give a written floodplain and flood-history notice with a lease. Electricity works differently here than in Austin or San Antonio. In CenterPoint Energy's delivery area you choose a retail electric provider, so two apartments with similar rent can still carry different monthly costs. We note which utilities the tenant pays when we can confirm it.
